Intense flames consume the former Ethan Allen Furniture plant
At approximately 11:40a.m. on Thursday, December 2, 2010 Erie County 9-1-1 Center received multiple calls reporting a fire at the former Ethan Allen furniture plant in Union City. The intense flames spread quickly through the large 4-story brick commercial structure, which contained several individual retailers. 4(+) alarms were struck bringing multiple mutual aid fire companies to the scene. Crew battled the blaze for several hours before bringing the blaze under control. Defensive operations were necessary due to the heavy fire load and the collapse of part of the structure.
