Fast moving fire in Fayette County, PA claims life of 11 month old boy

On Saturday, March 5, 2011 at approximately 5:05a.m. Station 38 fire units were dispatched to a house fire with entrapment in the 2800-block of Morgantown Road in Georges Township, Fayette County. Chief 38 arrived on the scene within moments and assumed Morgantown Road command, reporting heavy fire from a 2-story wood frame residential structure, with confirmed pediatric entrapment. Command immediately requested mutual aid from station 16.

Firefighters conducted a primary search for the trapped child. The child was found in his crib in one of the bedrooms. Firefighters removed Jace Haines and placed him in the care of EMS personnel. He was rushed to Uniontown hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The fire was brought under control in approximately 30 minutes. Cause of the fire is under investigation.
