Multiple fatalities and injuries in New York I-95 bus crash


On Saturday, March 12, 2011 at approximately 5:30a.m. a World Wide Travel tour bus loaded with passengers on the way back to Chinatown New York from the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut, was involved in a horrific crash on I-95 near the Westchester County/Bronx border. The tour bus driver lost control of the bus struck a guardrail, flipped onto its side traveling nearly 500 feet and striking a large highway sign which impaled and cut through the length of the tour bus at window level.

As many as 14 passengers were killed in the crash and at least 17 others were injured, including the bus driver. Some of the injured are reportedly in serious condition. There are some reports that the bus driver swerved to avoid a truck, however the cause of the crash is still under investigation and toxicology test results are pending.
