Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Officer shot multiple times during traffic stop





On Sunday, January 23, 2011 at approximately 9:00a.m. Officer David Moore of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department initiated a traffic stop in the 3400 block of North Temple. It was during this traffic stop that Officer Moore was shot 4 times, twice in the head, once in the hip and once in his bullet-proof vest.

Officer Moore is in the ICU at a local hospital in a coma, fighting for his life. They currently have a person of interest in custody. The person of interest is being held currently on a robbery and being a felon in possession of a gun. Thomas Hardy 60 years old, is the person in question. Hardy is being charged with an armed robbery that occurred less than an hour after Officer Moore was shot. Police recovered a gun and numerous other pieces of evidence during a search warrant execution at Hardy's residence. A stolen Toyota Camry that Hardy was believed to be operating, was located in a downtown parking garage.
